ABSTRACT

The tourism industry joins the digital age by increasing the supply of housing for tourist use. The analysis of the negative externalities associated with this phenomenon structures this work in five keys. The regulations are synthesized in two representative destinations: the Balearic Islands and Madrid. A quantification of economic impacts at the national level is presented, with the 2015 Input-Output Table of Spain, verifying that a change in the tourist behavior pattern, associated with the habits in holiday homes, generates impacts of various kinds from the perspective of the National contability.
